It is our goal to help kids along the path to inner peace and joy.

As yoga practioners, we recognize the power of mindful breathing and movement to help regulate our bodies and our brains. As parents, we realize just how much our kids need that.

The modern world moves at such a pace that, as adults, we often struggle to keep up and stay grounded. This breeds anxiety, depression, and loneliness in so many of us and kids are no exception.

By encouraging kids to get mindfully silly, we hope to help kids connect with themselves, their environments, and their peers in ways that strengthen self esteem and mental fortitude.

About Us

Monica Fayad

“I have practiced yoga for nearly 30 years and taught it for 25. I came to it in college, as I searched for ways to deal with stress. I’m a former school teacher and am currently enrolled at LSU-S as a candidate for Master In Counseling.

In addition to being a certified yoga teacher, CEU provider, and yoga teacher trainer through the national foundation, Yoga Alliance, I am the founder of Balanced Yoga School, the first training of its kind in our area.

It has been my life’s work to share the physical and emotional benefits of the practice of yoga. As a mom, I wish to bring a sense of play and fun to yoga so children can find comfort and confidence in their own bodies and peace in their minds.”

Amanda Cheveallier

“I began my yoga practice as a teenager in order to handle my severe anxiety. My mom, trying anything and everything she could think of to help, enrolled me in a yoga class which, in mid-90s Shreveport, must have been very difficult to find. I’ve been pursuing the physical and philosophical principles of yoga ever since.

Now that I’m a mom, I see how the tools I’ve learned over the years can be so helpful to a young child. Having found that there still wasn’t much on offer locally for kids’ yoga, I became a certified kids’ yoga instructor. I am also a visual artist and love to incorporate that into our yoga classes.

I believe that yoga’s intentionality and gentleness help children develop emotional awareness and a strong sense of self. I also believe that making it silly makes it approachable and engaging.”
